Mia Ethridge, 20, was riding on a firetruck that ran off the road in the rain and hit a tree on the way to a call on July 9, officials said. She was ejected and airlifted to University of Virginia Medical Center, where she died on Saturday, Sept. 2. She was wearing her seatbelt.

Mia, whose career department was Louisa County Fire and EMS, died on Saturday, Sept. 2. Her family will be donating her organs, the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department said.

"She will storm the gates of heaven with her bright eyed smile and spitfire self after she gives the gift of life," the SVFD said on Facebook. "She will be the biggest sun beam we see on all beautiful days."

"God bless you sweet Mia," SVFD said. "Job well done. Mia, we’ll take it from here."
